NOTICE OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE
STEPHENVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

    Notice is hereby given that on the 15th day of September, 2008, the Board of Trustees of the Stephenville Independent School District will hold a regular meeting at 6:30 pm, in the Administration Building - Bond Auditorium, 2655 West Overhill, Stephenville, TX 76401. The subjects to be discussed are listed on the agenda which is attached to and made a part of this Notice.

    If, during the course of the meeting covered by this Notice, the Board of Trustees should determine that a closed meeting of the Board of Trustees is required, then such closed meeting as authorized by the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Section 551 Subchapters D and E, will be held by the School Board at the date, hour, and place given in this Notice or as soon after the commencement of the meeting covered by this Notice as the School Board may conveniently meet in such closed meeting concerning any and all purposes permitted by the Act, including, but not limited to the following sections and purposes:

III Comments from Visitors

A maximum of thirty (30) minutes will be allotted for this section, with each person being allowed no more than five (5) minutes. Any person/group wishing to address the Board must sign in on the Open Forum list no later than 6:30 p.m. Groups of five or more shall select a representative to speak for the group; the representative will have five minutes. The Board may not act on any matter not on the Agenda. Any person/group wishing to have a specific item placed on the Board Agenda must complete a Board of Trustees Item Request no later than noon of the tenth calendar day before the meeting. Per Board Policy GF (Local), members of the public having complaints or concerns may present their complaints or concerns to the Board only after following the procedure defined in that policy. The Board intends that, whenever feasible, complaints shall be resolved at the lowest possible administrative level. If a complaint comes before the Board that involves concerns or charges regarding an employee or student, it shall be heard by the Board in closed session unless the employee or student to whom the complaint pertains requests that it be heard in open session.

Texas Government Code Section:

    Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section or sections of the Act authorizing the closed meeting. Should any final action, final decision, or final vote be required in the opinion of the School Board with regard to any matter considered in such closed meeting then the final action, final decision, or final vote shall be either:

(a) in the open meeting covered by the Notice upon the reconvening of the public meeting; or
(b) at a subsequent public meeting of the School Board upon notice thereof; as the School Board shall determine.

    On this 11th day of September, 2008, this Notice was mailed to news media who had previously requested such Notice and an original copy was posted on the bulletin board in the School District Administration Building at 2:00 p.m. on said date.
